Italia at Homes' study holiday  in 2024 will be to Molise.
Monday  2nd September to Monday 9th September

Ma Molise non esiste........ (but Molise doesn't exist)

Beautiful Molise is found on the Adriatic coast, sitting between Puglia to the south, Abruzzo to the north and Lazio to the west. Molise is so untouched by tourism, that even many Italians are not sure whether it even exists (it's the youngest province in Italy, only coming into being in 1970 after splitting from the neighbouring province of Abruzzo). There are 30km of coastline, with most of the remainder of the province being mountains & hills. It is thoroughly, authentically Italian!

Every year, except for the lockdown years, Italia at Home has provided an opportunity for students to travel to Italy, as a group, to practice the language skills they have learnt in class. So far we have visited the regions of Emilia Romagna, Campania and Tuscany & Molise. This year, in September, we are returning to Molise for the second time, to a small hilltop town or 'borgo' called Colli a Volturno, which is a small town of 1300 people. Being small, we have found that it is perfect for practicing your Italian language skills, making friends with locals, who are more than happy to  take time to chat over a cappuccino or a spritzer. The town is surrounded by the mountains of the
Mainarde, making the air fresh and clean, the local river cool and clear and the surroundings breathtaking.  We'll fly from Bristol to Naples airport, with onward transport to the villa by hire cars, which we will use to visit
the local area's ancient sites, beauty spots and locales where we can try traditional Molisan dishes.

Colli a Volturno is a small town (borgo) on top of a hill on the border of the Abruzzo, Molise and Lazio National Park & the Mainarde mountains. The small town has good transport links and plenty of good places to eat, including a wonderful café and pasticceria. The area is studded with beautiful walks, horse riding tracks, beautifully clean rivers, crystal clear lakes, ancient architecture (both Roman and Samnite), and the freshest, cleanest air.

Our home from home is in the historical center of the town in a newly refurbished building. It has two kitchens, two lounge/dining areas, and 6 bedrooms, each with two twin beds or one king sized bed. The house has two large roof top terraces with spectacular views over the mountains and national park.
